Tall Pines Day Camp Horseback Riding Program

The Horseback Riding Program strives to introduce campers to the fun of working with horses. Our program engages riders by bringing out curiosity, dedication, and empathy while building positive relationships with our horses. Riders learn the details of horsemanship during grooming, riding, and general care. The program is under the direction of Karen Jacobs. Karen has been the Riding Director since Tall Pines opened in 1996.

Horseback Riding is an optional program for campers who have completed 1st Grade and beyond. All lessons provided are western style with the possibility of trail rides. A brief portion of some lessons may be unmounted in order to teach essential riding skills. Campers will not canter or gallop, and trotting will be at the discretion of the instructor based on the rider’s evaluation.
