Counselor-in-Training (CIT) Program
Counselor-in-Training (CIT) Program is for teens that have finished 7th and 8th grade and is under the direction of John Deitelbaum. The CIT Program combines the roles of camper and Junior Counselor. CITs continue to participate in scheduled activities and takes weekly trips to fun places. Horseback Riding (PDF) is an optional program. As part of their training, the CIT assists camp staff in providing a variety of activities as a practical learning experience. The program places campers in a position of responsibility with various bunks and specialty activities.
Each CIT rotates between assignments every two weeks. Weekly workshops and training are provided to discuss issues and problems that arise. At the end of each two-week period, each supervisor fills out an evaluation of the CIT. Evaluations and observations are used for training and future hiring decisions. In the past two years we have offered contracts to over 100 CITs. Over 30 percent of our current staff are former CITs!
